There have been canvassers knocking on all our doors – and I’ve been out doing some of that knocking. People that a few weeks ago were anxious for change are now anxious to have it all over.
Daddy has always voted Fianna Fáil. The banks guarantee, the deal with the IMF, the cuts – nothing was going to stop him voting for them this time around too. 80,000 people left the country last year in search of work – Daddy was still going to be loyal to the end to the party that wished them all Bon Voyage.
Until the leaders debate last night that is, and suddenly, Daddy isn’t going to vote Fianna Fáil anymore. He is joining that group undecided voter. It all came down to Micheál Martin’s hair style. Daddy has had a receding hair line since he was 18 and now in his early sixties has a tonsure. But he has never, never had a comb over, and that is what Micheál Martin sported in the final leaders debate.
‘If he’s hiding his bald patch, what else is he hiding?’ that was Daddy’s analysis. The studio light reflected off the top of Micheál’s head during that debate, beamed into the living rooms of Ireland and it illuminated the whole issue. Just in time!

That's gas I never noticed Micheal Martin's combover till now. I knew there was something new about his image! Well spotted by your dad :)
Earlier this eve I was commenting on how (relatively) handsome he is... now all I'll see is the combover!
Politics are interesting business. I'm glad your dad saw the light.
That's hilarious! My mother was looking at the pamphlet of a local candidate when she declared he wouldn't be getting her vote. I assumed it was because of his list of far-left policies. No, she was looking at his photo and didn't care for "the annoying head on him."
I say makes no odds what makes a man see the light! So long as he sees it. I would find it hard to vote for someone with a comb over too though!
Good luck Ireland! Thinking of your country on its big day today.
Hi Aine, I left an award for you over at Inkpots n' Quills. Pop over and collect it.
This made me laugh...thanks for sharing the story! Never thought combovers would end up being a good thing LoL ps- like the new look of the blog too ;)

Lol That is priceless! Judging a book by the cover but still...
if you are foolish enough to think your fooling anyone - it would sway my confidence in your ability to accept things as they are in the real world. I would judge you to either be hiding something from me or worse yourself - how can you fix anything if you can't accept reality? I'm stalking you #66 - grin
